Premier league club Leicester City becomes the latest football entity to be hit with the coronavirus scare as three unnamed players reportedly go into isolation.
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers made the announcement on Thursday, March 12, although he did not mentioned the affected players by name.
According to the manager, several players "were showing signs" and the club had to take the necessary precautionary steps.
"We've had a few players that have shown symptoms and signs (of coronavirus). We've followed procedures and (as a precaution) they have been kept away from the squad," he said.
Leicester, who sit third in the Premier League standings, are scheduled to play relegation-threatened Watford on Saturday, March 14, at Vicarage road.
Rodgers was asked whether the game would be played behind closed doors as has been the case with other fixtures across Europe but he was not for the idea.
"The game is all about the players and the fans and if you have one of those not there, it's obviously not the same," he said.
It was gathered that the players' symptoms have not reached the threshold for coronavirus testing but they would continue to be monitored.
In the UK, the coronavirus has not necessarily been treated with too much urgency, and the government is expected to switch to tactics aimed at delaying the spread, rather than containing it.
In Wednesday's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, Liverpool's Anfield stadium was packed with fans , despite the risk.
The World Health Organisation has already declared the outbreak of the disease a pandemic.
Meanwhile, top flight leagues in both Spain and Italy have been suspended till further notice as the situation is monitored.
Leicester becomes the second Premier League club to have players go into isolation after Arsenal , who had five players self-quarantine after it emerged Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who interacted with several of them, had the disease.
