Chelsea reach agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, according to reports.

After failing to sign a player in the January transfer window, the 26-year-old is reportedly top of Frank Lampard's shortlist ahead of the summer.

And according to De Telegraaf, Chelsea have a verbal agreement in place with the Dutch champions to sign Ziyech at the end of the season.

The report claims that advanced negotiations have taken place in the last 24 hours and Chelsea have agreed to pay a €45 million (£37.8m) for the Morocco international.

It's also claimed that there is still the possibility for Ziyech to change his mind as a contract has not been signed, but only Chelsea so far have been negotiating with Ajax and the Dutch club have not been interested in holding talks with other sides.

Ziyech has been a key figure at Ajax over the past two seasons with 29 goals and 45 assists in 78 appearances.

The midfielder helped Ajax win the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup last term and was instrumental in helping the team reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

This season, Ziyech has already played against Chelsea twice in the Champions League and provided three assists in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge in November.
