Jose Mourinho names former Chelsea star, others among players he will sign this summer

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly concluded plans to equip his backline when the summer transfer window opens this summer.

Spurs have kept just three clean sheets in all competitions since the arrival of the Portuguese born tactician last December and he is now ready to splash £120 million on defenders this summer

Although, they have made tremendous progress on the Premier League table compared to when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.

The Lilywhites are sixth on the table with 37 points and they will hope to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to five games when they battle Aston Villa at Villa Park this weekend.

Mourinho made just two signings in the winter transfer window - Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven while Gedson Fernandes joined on loan from Benfica.

The former Inter Milan boss is, however, ready to add depth to his defence line at the end of the season.

Benfica's Ruben Dias is one of the stars on Mourinho's radar while AFC Bournemouth star Nathan Ake, Norwich City's Max Aarons, Nice's Youcef Atal, and Leicester City's Ben Chilwell all also on the manager's wishlist.

According to football fan cast, Spurs might have to cough put £80m for Dias whose agent is Jorge Mendes while Ake would cost around £40m.

And he could leave if his present club relegates at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has also overlooked his former clubs Manchester United and Chelsea as he backs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United to finish top four this season.

"Wolves and Sheffield United are fighting for the top four, [the managers] they can say no, and I understand if they say no but the reality is that they are.

"Not just because of the position that they are in the table, but because of the power and quality," the Spurs boss told Sky Sports.

"They arrive in this situation where, in the eyes of everybody, they should be more than happy, but they are not more than happy.

Wolves bought an important player [Daniel Podence for £17m] to try to improve their situation.

"Sheffield bought an important player [Sander Berge for £22m], they beat their record in the market to try to improve their team.

Mourinho also overlooked is another former club among the teams that will qualify for the European elite championship next term.

The Blues are fourth on the table but the Portuguese born tactician believes they will drop at the end of the season.

"So it's not just about Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Everton.

It's not just about us. It's also about these two clubs who I have to say [are] fantastic."

Spurs are currently sixth on the table with 37 points - two points behind Sheffield and Mourinho does not believe his side has a chance to overtake them.
