Transfer: Guardiola reveals what will happen when Messi leaves Barcelona

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed Barcelona will struggle if they lose Lionel Messi.

Guardiola, speaking with Post United, explained that it would be similiar to Real Madrid, after Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus.

Messi has played his whole professional career at the Camp Nou, after leaving his native Rosario as a young child.

However, there are speculations he could dump Barca, after a public spat with the club' sporting director, Eric Abidal.

And Guardiola, who worked with Messi for four years at Barca, said: "It is inevitable, these players are so important.

"When Messi leaves Barca they will need some time to re-adjust. It is inevitable.

"These guys score 40 or 50 goals a season."
