La Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash at Calabasas in California on Sunday, January 26, 2020.
Even more heartbreaking has been the fact that he died with his 13-year-old Gianni Maria who was on the helicopter with him.
While the deaths of Kobe and his daughter have dominated news headlines, they were not the people who suffered the unfortunate fate.
There were seven other people on the helicopter including the pilot putting the total number of deaths at nine.
Details and photos of all the nine people who were aboard the chopper have been released on American television.
NBA 18-time All Star player Kobe and Gianna were not the only family members to have died.
Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli died alongside his wife Keri Altobelli and their daughter Alyssa Altobelli were inside the helicopter.
A mother, Sarah Chester, also died alongside her daughter Payton Chester. Christina Mauser, an assistant coach for an Orange County private elementary school basketball team, was also killed in the crash.
The last person is the pilot of the chopper, Ara Zobayan
