EPL: Guardiola blasts VAR, hands Premier League title to Liverpool

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has described Video Assistant Referee (VAR) as "a big mess" every weekend in the Premier League.

Guardiola stated this while speaking to Sky Sport, after watching his team defeat Sheffield United 2-0 on Sunday.

City opened the scoring in controversial fashion, as Sergio Aguero found the back of the net, following some interference in build-up play from referee Chris Kavanagh.

Sheffield were themselves denied the opening goal, after VAR adjudged Lys Mousset to be offside.

"I said many times I have a huge list for VAR. Every weekend is a big mess.

"In other games it was a big mess. Hopefully next season it can do better," Guardiola said.

The Spaniard also admitted that the race for the Premier League title is over and he is looking forward to next season.

"It's unrealistic to think about it [catching Liverpool]," he said.

"When a team has the numbers that Liverpool has why should we think about it, when we are 14 [points] or 17 behind?

"Prepare, play good, be as close as possible, play the knockouts and prepare for next season. Next season we will be here and hopefully, we can do better."
