Arsenal new Manager Mikel Arteta finally completes his 1st club signing

Arsenal new boss Mikel Arteta has completed his first signing after handing club youngster Harry Clarke a new long term deal.

The 37-year-old tactician signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Gunners this month as replacement for Unai Emery.

Arteta spent the last three seasons assisting Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and won two Premier League titles in the process.

Reports from the north London side reveal the Spaniard's first assignment is to steady the club's drowning ship - as they currently sit outside of the top ten teams on the table after 18 games.

The manager is expected to take charge of his first match against Bournemouth on Boxing Day and he will hope to start on a winning note.

SunSport reports that the 18-year-old was instrumental in the Gunners reserve team winning the Premier League South in 2018-19.

The teenage sensation can play in defence or as a defensive midfielder signed his first professional contract at the club in August 2018.

After the club broke the news Clarke tweeted his joy, writing: "Proud to have signed a new long term contract with this great club. "The hard work continues!"

The 18-year-old has made 11 appearances for Arsenal's Under-23s in the Premier League 2, with the club losing just once.

Writing on their club website, the Gunners said: "Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Harry on his new contract and we look forward to seeing him develop further."

Gooners on Twitter seemed equally ecstatic, with one writing: "Congratulations Harry you deserve it class CB partnership with Mavropanos vs Peterborough."
