Tottenham boss mourinho in big trouble after disappointing defeat to chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur new boss Jose Mourinho has suffered a major set back after his priority target for the winter transfer window reportedly agrees to join Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old German goalkeeper has been lined up by the Portuguese born tactician as a quality replacement for Hugo Lloris next month.

His present club FC Schalke 04 confirmed their player will leave the club at the end of the ongoing season but did not reveal his destination.

SunSport quoting Bild reports that the keeper will join the Bundesliga champions next summer and sign a five-year contract and will battle club legend, Manuel Neuer, for the No 1 spot.

Meanwhile, Schalke chiefs expressed their unhappiness with the goalkeeper shunning a chance to extend his stay at the club.

Sporting director Jochen Schneider told club website: "After all the discussions we had with Alexander Nubel and his advisor in the past few months, we are not very surprised at his decision and of course we respect it. "However, we do not have to understand his decision."

The Royal Blues were said to have offered Nubel a new deal in the summer, but the German refused to commit his future.

SunSport quoting European football expert Kevin Hatchard revealed Mourinho was interested in landing the goalkeeper.

He said: "One little whisper that came my way on Spurs in the last few days is that they are keeping an eye on Alexander Nubel.

''He is the captain of Schalke and a goalkeeper in his early 20s. He is a very good goalkeeper with a [Manuel] Neuer vibe about him''.
