Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola personally consoled Manchester United midfielder, Fred, after the Brazilian appeared to suffer racial abuse during his side's Premier League 2-1 defeat against the Red Devils.

Fred was stoned with objects, as he stepped up to take a corner kick, with Man United two goals up.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola was seen deep in conversation with Fred in the mixed zone after the game.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach put his hands on the 26-year-old's face while speaking to him for 30 seconds.

The newspaper reports that Guardiola was offering his unconditional support to Fred.

Meanwhile, speaking on the development, Fred told reporters after the match at Etihad:

"Unfortunately, we are still in a backward society.

"It is a shame we still have to live with that in 2019.

"Unfortunately, this is happening in some stadiums. It happened here, it happened in Ukraine with some friends.

"It's sad, but we have to keep our heads up and forget about that."

We reported earlier that Man City have since condemned the racial gestures made towards Fred.
