10 Liverpool players dominate UEFA 2019 team of the year 50-man shortlist

Reigning Champions League winners Liverpool have had ten of their players nominated among the 50-man shortlist for the 2019 UEFA team of the year.

Liverpool were impressive in the last two seasons in the Champions League reaching the final twice, losing one and winning the other.

In the 2017/18 season, Liverpool reached the final of the Champions League and lost against Real Madrid in which Mohamed Salah picked an injury after tackle from Sergio Ramos.

But the following season, they got their rhythm again and made it to the final where they defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham.

And now, ten members of the Liverpool squad who played in the final against Tottenham have been shortlisted for the team of the year.

They are Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Joel Matip, Andrew Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.

As expected, these Liverpool players will face serious competition from 40 other stars picked from other clubs in Europe.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are also among the 50-man shortlist as well as N'Golo Kante, Kylian Mbappe, Sergio Aguero, Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane.

Belgium international Eden Hazard left Chelsea after helping the Blues to win the 2018/19 Europa League title beating Arsenal in the final.
