Real reason Ronaldo will not be leading Juventus' attack against Atlanta

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has stylishly ruled himself out of his side's Serie A clash against Atalanta at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

The 34-year-old moved one step closer to reaching 100 national team goals after helping Portugal beat Lithuania and Luxembourg in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

He scored four goals in both games but needed just one more to reach a century feat while he continues to chase the 109 goals record set by Iranian legend Ali Daei.

Ronaldo posted on his official Instagram handle that he is currently recovering and will be back for his club in no time. He said: "Focused on my recovery to come back soon!⚽"

Meanwhile, few days after scoring his 99th goal for his country, the former Manchester United star seems unfit to return to Juve starting line up for this weekend's game.

The Old Lady boss Maurizio Sarri during his pre-match conference said his star man is most likely to miss the game away from home.

He was quoted to have said: "It's 99% certain that Cristiano Ronaldo won't play tomorrow. On Tuesday he told us he is not fully fit".

It would be recalled that both Ronaldo and his current manager had an unpleasant moment in their last matchday against AC Milan after the forward was removed in the 55th minute.

His replacement, Paulo Dybala ended up scoring the lone goal that powered the defending champions to victory after regulation period as they maintain their leadership at the top of the log.

Ronaldo has scored six goals and one assist in 14 appearances across competitions so far this campaign and his hope of winning the European golden shoe may be in jeopardy.

The Portuguese forward has also lost major individual awards this year to Virgil van Dijk and Lionel Messi, but has a chance to win this year's Ballon d'Or award next month.

He will contend with his arch-rival from Barcelona, the current European best player, and many other top stars for the prestigious prize.
