South Africans thank Nigerians for giving them embattled Nigerian goalkeeper after he saves two penalties

Daniel Akpeyi was the hero again for Kaizer Chiefs after he saved two penalties to send his team to the semi-final of the 2019 Telkom Knockout ahead of Orlando Pirates.

Kaizer Chiefs defeated Orlando Pirates 4-2 on penalties in the Soweto derby and quarterfinal match played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, November 2.

Chiefs picked up the win after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes of football with Akpeyi playing a crucial role.

The penalty heroics has now helped Akpeyi finally warm his way into the hearts of the Chiefs fans.

One fan @Slenda_M wrote: "Dear Nigeria thank you for Daniel Akpeyi, as KaizerChiefs fans we appreciate him very much."

While another @Matome_Kay wrote: "To all fellow Kaizer Chiefs fans who trolled, mocked and called Daniel Akpeyi all sorts of names, I'm expecting your hearty apologies under this tweet as of now. Swallow your pride and applaud the man."
