Manager Frank Lampard is a firm believer in the striker's abilities, publicly backing the youngster after he missed a crucial penalty in the UEFA Super Cup shoot-out.

And behind the scenes, he has clamoured for Abraham to be rewarded with a new deal in the same way he did for Mason Mount.

According to the Telegraph, the 21-year-old is currently the lowest earner in the Chelsea squad after Mount and and Ruben Loftus-Cheek signed new contracts in the summer.

Former Derby County star Mount signed a new deal worth £77,000-a-week, while Loftus-Cheek committed his future in west London by agreeing a deal worth £150,000-a-week.

The report claims Abraham currently earns £50,000-a-week and has two years remaining on the deal he signed before joining Swansea City on loan in 2017.

Chelsea are likely to add two more years to the striker's current deal and take his earnings up to £100,000-a-week including bonuses.

However, it is understood there is no rush in negotiations, given the fact Abraham is relishing the opportunity to lead the line for his boyhood club - fulfilling a lifelong dream in the process.
