Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of England international right-back Kieran Trippier from Tottenham, ending his four-year spell in north London.

The 28-year-old is reported to have joined Atletico Madrid on a three-year deal for an initial fee of £20m plus add-ons and will replace Juanfran in Diego Simeone's starting XI.

A Tottenham statement read: 'We have reached agreement with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Kieran Trippier.

'The right-back joined us from Burnley in the summer of 2015 and made 114 appearances for us in all competitions.

'We wish Kieran all the best for the future.'

In an article on their website, Atletico said: 'The Englishman is a versatile full-back who can also play in midfield and has a fantastic right foot.

'Because of all this, we welcome Trippier to the Atleti Family and wish him the best of luck at his new home. Welcome, Kieran!'

Trippier started his career with Manchester City before enjoying spells with Barnsley, Burnley and Spurs, whom he joined for £3.5m in 2015.

Following Kyle Walker's departure to Manchester City in 2017, Trippier established himself as Mauricio Pochettino's first-choice right-back.

Despite enduring a difficult season, Trippier started in Spurs' 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final in what proved to be his final appearance for the club at his new stadium.

He becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer, following Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente, Felipe, Renan Lodi, Ivan Saponjic and Hector Herrera, for a combined £190m.

According to reports, Spurs are not planning to sign a new right-back and will stick with Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth as their options next season.
