Frank Lampard agrees £4m-a-year contract with Chelsea

Frank Lampard is poised to become Chelsea's new manager after agreeing a three-year deal with the club, according to reports.

The former Blue is set to make a sensational return to his former club after excelling in his first season in charge at Derby.

Lampard has been excused from Derby's pre-season training and Chelsea came to terms with the 41-year-old on Monday.

The Daily Mail claim Lampard's return has been rubber-stamped and the contract will be worth £4m a year.

There are several incentives in the deal that could see it rise to £5m a year, with Chelsea promising to reward Lampard if he achieves Champions League qualification next season.

Chelsea are on track to confirm Lampard as their new boss in time for him to be present when the players return for pre-season on Friday.

Lampard is set to bring his assistant manager Jody Morris and first team coach Chris Jones from Derby to Chelsea with him.

The Englishman also wants Shay Given to join them at Stamford Bridge, but the Irishman is still weighing up his options.

Lampard will become Chelsea's third different manager in as many seasons after Maurizio Sarri left the club earlier this summer to join Juventus.
