Barcelona, 2 other top European clubs battle to sign Man United star this summer

Turkish League bitter rivals Fernerbahce and Galatasaray have reportedly jumped in the race to sign out of favour Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata this summer.

The Spaniard's contract with the Red Devils expires this month having spent five seasons at Old Trafford after joining them from Chelsea in 2014.

La Liga champions Barcelona are also said to be interested in landing the former Valencia attacker in a bid to improve their squad for competition next campaign.

According to SunSport, United are planning to extend Mata's stay at club, but the player is considering other options.

Reports from the midfielder's camp reveals that he will hug a chance to return to Spain and start a new life eight years after leaving for England in 2011.

However, the Turkish League rivals have approached his representatives about the possibility of signing him on a free transfer.

Mata joined Man United from Chelsea under ex-boss David Moyes and has been with the club for five-and-a-half years.

The 31-year-old started 21 matches in all competitions for the Red Devils and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he still relevant to his program next season.

The Norwegian tactician released 15 players at the end of last season including Ander Herrera and captain Antonio Valencia.
