Barcelona, Man United fail to make the world's top 5 most successful teams (See table inside)

Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, saw off competition from elite European clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona to emerges world's most successful club based on trophies

Christened the "Club of the Century," Al Ahly has won the Egyptian championship a record 40 times and also holds 36 Egyptian cup wins to their name.

The club's total haul of 118 trophies since their formation in 1907 saw them top list of 30 most successful football clubs compiled by Goal.com.

Scottish giants, Rangers, who have 115 honours to their name were ranked second, with Uruguay's Club Nacional de Football completing the top three podium with 113 titles.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only renowned top sides that made the top 10 list with the La Liga giants ranking sixth and seventh respectively.

The Premier League had just two representatives in the top 30, with Manchester United coming in at 12th with 71 trophies and Liverpool at 18th with 59 trophies.

Other top European clubs the list include Ajax in 13th, Bayern Munich at 14th and Juventus at 15th.

Meanwhile, despite the likes of Madrid, Barcelona and United failing to take the top slots for trophies, they remain among the most valuable teams in Europe.

According to recent figures released by KPMG, Madrid were ranked first among the most valuable clubs, with United and Bayern Munich finishing second and third respectively.
