Supercomputer predicts who will win the Europa League between Chelsea and Arsenal

A supercomputer has predicted a Europa League triumph for Chelsea when they come up against London rivals, Arsenal, during the finals of the competition at the end of May in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Chelsea booked a date in the finals with the Gunners after overcoming Frankfurt in the semis of the European competition through post-match penalties.

Arsenal, on the other hand sealed a place in the finals after thumping La Liga side, Valencia, 7-3 on aggregate in their semi-final fixture.

The Unai Emery-tutored side are in dire need for victory in the finals, as they understand lifting the title would seal them a place in the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, is keen to claim his first title of his managerial career during the continental competition.

However, even with the the high stakes that have characterised the tie, FiveThirtyEight's supercomputer has given the Blues a 60% chance of winning the final, compared to Arsenal's 40% chance of coming out on top in their first European final in 13 years.

But the prediction notwithstanding, it is important to note that Arsenal boss, Unai Emery, is widely known to be a Europa League specialist, having won it three times in a row when in charge of Sevilla.
