UEFA snubs Messi, names EPL star as Champions League Player of the Week

Lucas Moura who plays for Premier League side Tottenham has been named as the Champions League player of the week after his incredible game against Ajax.

The 26-year-old Brazilian football star was the hero for the Premier League club on Wednesday, May 8, scoring hat-trick in Tottenham's 3-2 win over the Dutch giants.

His three goals sent Tottenham to the final of the 2018/19 Champions League where they will face Premier League rivals Liverpool in Madrid.

UEFA took to their social media page to announce Lucas Moura as the winner of their prize after the Champions League semifinal.

Despite winning 16 trophies and scoring 46 goals in five years at PSG, Lucas never quite lived up to his billing and he fell down the pecking order after the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

He joined Spurs for just £24.5m in January 2018 which was the club's last signing and took six months to adapt to English football.
