Top English club sacks manager after losing 21 games

Championship side Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the sack of Steve McClaren after just one win in his last 15 matches for the club.

The Hoops are currently 17th on the table with 44 points after 39 matches - just seven points above relegation zone.

And they are hoping to turn the tides around in a bid to avoid the drop at the end of the ongoing season.

The club have however appointed McClaren's assistant John Eustace on interim basis until the end of the season.

QPR chief Lee Hoos told the club website that sacking the manager was not easy but it was necessary for the club to move forward.

"Making a decision such as this is never easy, particularly when you are talking about someone as professional and dedicated as Steve.

"It is well documented that we are in a period of transition as we work hard to make the club financially stable .

"As we look to the future, and taking recent results into account, we feel now is the right time to re-evaluate where we are."

During his reign at the Loftus Road, McClaren took charge of 46 matches and won 16 of those fixtures - drawing nine and losing 21.
