Real Madrid on Monday evening, March 11, announced the reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as manager just 10 months after the Frenchman quit the club as coach.
His sensational return took football fans by surprise as not many fancied the return of Zidane to the Bernabeu.
Zidane's departure mid-2018 saw the appointment of Julen Lopetegui who was dismissed after just four months at the helm.
The Spaniard's sacking ushered in the appointment of Santiago Solari, who has recorded a string of poor results that culminated to Madrid's exit from the the Champions League in the round of 16.
The La Liga giants are also not in contention of any silverware this season and are now pushing to finish on a high in the domestic league.
As such, Zidane's reappointment will not come as a surprise - at least among Madrid fans and top hierarchy.
During his previous tenure at the club between 2016 and 2018, the French tactician guided Madrid to a record three Champions League titles among other domestic titles totaling to nine.
The 46-year-old only lost a paltry 16 out of the 149 matches he was in charge, with his side notching am impressive 393 goals.
In the 149 matches, Zidane won 104 of them, garnering 2.3 points per game.
During his time, Madrid further established themselves as an almost unbeatable team, cementing their place as a top club in Europe.
