PSG vs Man United: Here is what the rule says as VAR helps the Red Devils in Paris

Football fans around the world have been reacting to Manchester United's injury time penalty against Paris-Saint-Germain which sent the Premier League side to the Champions League last 8.

Referee Damir Skomina had initially signaled for a corner in the encounter for Manchester United at the death in which the scoreline was still 2-1.

But the referee was later called by other officials for him to check the incident again for a possible handball in the box and after watching a pitch-side monitor, he gave Manchester United a penalty.

It was Diogo Dalot's shot that struck Presnel Kimpembe's hand in the box before Englishman Marcus Rashford scored the penalty.

But according to the international Football Association Board (Ifab) rule-book, handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm.

The following must be considered:

1. movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)

2. The distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)

3. position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an offence

Brazilian football star Neymar was angry with the decision of the referee to give Manchester United a late penalty and called it a 'disgrace' according to BBC.
