Panic as Super Eagles star's mother kidnapped, N50m demanded as ransom

Samuel Kalu's mother, Mrs Julliet Ozuruonye Kalu, has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.

According to reports from The Guardian quoting a source Aba, the Super Eagles winger's mother was driving along the Okpulu Umuobo in the past week when the incident occurred.

The unidentified gunmen blocked her vehicle, then ordered the children out of the car, before taking the player's mother away.

It is understood that the kidnappers demanded a N50million ransom but raised the amount to an undisclosed figure.

Nothing has been heard from the Bordeaux attacker concerning the issue and the police have not made a statement about the incident.

However, The Guardian claim Kalu's family have been keeping in touch with the kidnappers since the past week.

The 21-year-old made his debut for Nigeria in an AFCON qualifying match against Libya in October 2018.

He crowned his five-star performance with a brilliant curling shot to complete a resounding 4-0 win for the Super Eagles.

Kalu has made 18 appearances for Bordeaux this season and have provided three assists and scored two goals so far.
