WWE star Roman Reigns attacked for 'faking' leukamia claims

Roman Reigns has been defended by a top United Kingdom cancer charity group after claims the WWE returnee faked his leukamia battle.

The 33-year-old recently announced his sensational return to Monday Night Raw four months after he had been diagnosed with the deadly disease for a second time.

The Big Dog caught the world's attention when he announced he was in remission and had been cleared to wrestle in Atlanta Georgia.

Reigns whose real names Joe Anoa'l have been heaped with praises for his courage to carry himself through the scare but others think he misled people with the news.

Several fans went to Twitter to claim the ex-Shield member faked his cancer and was used as part of his storyline.

Some pointed out Reigns has not lost hair and weight after undergoing treatment while other felt the news was used for him to gain support for the 6ft 3in grappler.

However, Leukaemia Care UK, a national blood cancer support charity, quickly took to Twitter to explain a few facts and set the record straight as they showed their support for the former Royal Rumble winner.

"The tweets we are seeing mainly centre around the idea of what a cancer patient should look like. 'How can he have hair?' 'How can he have not lost weight?'' Why doesn't he look like a cancer patient?'

"We're going to weigh in here with some leukaemia information. Back to basics. Leukaemia is a cancer. It affects people of all ages. There are four main types of cancer: ALL, AML, CLL and CML. However, there are other types and subtypes. LEUKAEMIA IS COMPLICATED!

"The different types are key. Acute leukaemias are aggressive and need aggressive treatment to save a patient. Chronic leukaemias are incurable but treatable.

"DON'T FORGET - We do not KNOW what type of leukaemia he has. Therefore, NONE of us are in a position to question his treatment, how he should look etc."

Reigns had a massive appearance on Monday Night Raw as he joined Seth Rollins in helping their former Shield brother Dean Ambrose escape a beating from Bobby Lashley, Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre.

All seems to make make another appearance at WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey on April 7.
