Courtois named Best Goalkeeper, De Gea fails to make top five (See list)

Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has been named Best Goalkeeper of 2018, by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Courtois finished ahead of Tottenham's Hugo Lloris, while Gianluigi Buffon of Paris Saint-Germain was third.

His Real Madrid teammate, Keylor Navas was fourth, while Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak and Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen were joint fifth.

Manchester United's David De Gea did not make the top five.

According to the IFFHS, football experts from 90 countries took part in the voting process, that saw the 26-year-old Belgium international receive 181 votes.

Lloris came second with 109 votes, Buffon came third with 59 votes.
