Arsene Wenger reveals big reason behind Ozil's poor form at Arsenal this season

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has explained that Mesut Ozil's lack of form this season for the Gunners is because of the big £350,000-a-week contract he signed at the club.

Mesut Ozil has not been impressive this season for Arsenal in all competitions and there have been reports that current manager Unai Emery wants him to leave Emirates stadium.

He has been repeatedly left out of the Gunners' squad by Unai Emery and Arsene Wenger who brought Ozil to the club has now responded.

The Frenchman says Mesut Ozil is in the comfort zone at Arsenal considering what he takes every week at the Premier League side.

"I feel the length of the contract has nothing to do normally with the selection of the first team.

"But sometimes you have special cases that I don't want to interfere in.

"Most of the time, we think when we sign a player for five years 'now we have a good player for five years.

"But that doesn't necessarily mean that they play their best because it's a bit inviting them to be in the comfort zone,'' Wenger explained according to the report on UK Sun.

Mesut Ozil has scored three goals this season in the Premier League this season in 14 games providing only one assist for Arsenal.
