Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman speaks out on Man Utd takeover reports

Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman is not planning to buy Manchester United, the kingdom's government has announced.

The Sun have reported that Prince Mohammad is heading a £3.8 billion takeover of United and is keen to replace the Glazer family by the start of next season.

Senior figures at United have been meeting in Saudi Arabia to discuss potential sponsorship opportunities.

But Saudi media minister Turki Al-Shabanah insists no takeover of United is planned.

'Reports claiming that HRH the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman intends on buying @ManUtd are completely false,' Al-Shabanah posted on Twitter.

'Manchester United held a meeting with @PIFSaudi to discuss sponsorship opportunity . No deal has been materialized.'

United were fully bought out by the Glazer family in 2005, while last week, the club announced record second quarter revenues of £208.6m.
