Mourinho, 4 other possible replacements for Maurizio Sarri if Chelsea manager gets sacked

Chelsea suffered their fourth Premier League defeat in their last eight matches with Sunday's 6-0 bashing by Man City at the Etihad.

The performance saw the Blues fall to the sixth spot on the log and have created tension around the managerial role at the club with the fear of missing out from Champions League again.

This report by The Mirror highlights possible managerial candidates that can replace Sarri as new boss at Chelsea.

5. Gianfranco Zola

Currently, Zola is an assistant to Sarri in the Chelsea bench, and bookies are tipping the Italian to take over from his compatriot if he gets sacked.

Zola since retiring from active football has managed West Ham, Watford and Birmingham and is ranked highly by some Chelsea fans, but his inexperience at the top will likely count against his chances of getting the job.

4. Guus Hiddink

This veteran manager is a popular choice among Chelsea fans.

The Dutchman Guus Hiddink is not a stranger to Chelsea supporters and if handed the role to save Chelsea's season this term will be welcomed.

In February 2009, Chelsea named Hiddink as interim boss after Fillipe Scolari's sack and he did not disappoint.

Hiddink secured a top-four finish and also claimed the FA Cup in his game before bowing out.

Interestingly, Hiddink returned as an interim boss once more after Jose Mourinho's sack in 2015, setting the longest unbeaten spell (12 games) as a club manager in the English topflight.

No doubt Hiddinck will be welcomed if considered for the role should Sarri get the sack.

3. Diego Simeone

The Atletico Madrid boss has shown his qualities since taking over the managerial role at the La Liga outfit since in 2011.

Already, he has claimed several trophies including the La Liga title, two Europa League success as well as a European Supercup win against Chelsea.

But with Atletico sitting third in La Liga log, and a Champions League tie against Juventus also coming up, the possibility of Simeone moving to Chelsea are limited.

2. Jose Mourinho

The Portuguese tactician will be thrilled to return as manager in the EPL after his last expedience at United.

If Mourinho return to manage Chelsea again, it will be a sensational return to familiar ground, and will see him earn his third spell at Stamford Bridge.

At the moment, Mourinho s still watching proceedings from the sidelines as former club United continue to shine under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Portuguese manager still lives in west London and will not doubt welcome another opportunity with neighbours Chelsea in a bid to improve on his credibility.

1. Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno has been rated as one of best EPL managers in the current campaign.

He has improved on Wolves quality last term after winning promotion to the English topflight.

Nuno Espirito Santo has truly showed he has a good knowledge of the English game with more financial backing will surely go places.

The ex-Portuguese international also guided his side to claim a 2-1 win over Sarri's Chelsea in December 2018.

And with 12 matches to the end of the season, Nuno's side are closing to equal Wolves highest finish in a Premier League campaign with 40 points, which goes a long way to show how well he has impacted positively at Molineux.

No doubt it will not be a surprise to see him on the radar of clubs in the EPL.
