Vincent Kompany has reportedly offered to donate his season pay at Manchester City to help the homeless in Manchester.
Through a charity movement dubbed Tackle4MCR, Kompany hopes to help end rough sleeping in Manchester.
The star defender has partnered with Manchester mayor Andy Burnham in his push to help the homeless.
On Tuesday night, February 5, the Belgian hosted a testimonial dinner that saw him raise £216,000 towards the mayor's Bed Every Night scheme.
"To see so many people come together to raise vital funds was heart-warming and showed the strength and solidarity we will need to continue tackling what is a complex issue," Manchester Evening news quoted Kompany.
"Sleeping rough on the streets is something no one should have to do which is why we created the social movement and fundraising vehicle that is Tackle4MCR," he added.
The event was graced by City players including Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and his assistant Mike Phelan were also in attendance.
According to reports in the UK, Kompany is seeking to raise at least £1million from.testimonial events by the end of 2019.
Two similar events have already been lined up, including a city-wide football day in the Spring and Kompany's testimonial game at Etihad in the summer.
Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, the 32-year-old disclosed it was part of giving back to Manchester, admitting the City had offered him so much including a glittering football career.
