Real Madrid finally make decision on Premier League star who also wanted by Man United and Chelsea

Real Madrid have finally given up on signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham despite the Dane's contract ending in 2020 with the Premier League club.

According to Spanish news media outlet AS, Los Blancos have resulted into relying on the midfield duo of Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos.

The European champions have decided to renew Modric's current deal at the Bernabeu to keep him until he retires from the game.

And with the fast development of Spanish midfielder Ceballos, Real are ready to invest in the 22-year-old as Modric's replacement.

President Florentino Perez has been impressive with his performances this season and has hailed the former Spain U-20 captain to become a legend at the club.

On the other hand, Modric will continue his role in the midfield for a few more seasons, before gradually losing prominence in the team due to his progressing age.

He will at some point lose his role in the first team but the Madrid board are aware he is not a player that will cause conflict in the squad and that is why they have decided to offer him a new deal until he retires.

Modric's relationship in the dressing room with his potential successor Ceballos has been worthy of note.

The Croatian plays the role of a mentor with the Spaniard and has welcomed him with open arms since the day Ceballos broke into the first team.

And this is part of the reason the Bernabeu outfit have resolved into not splashing the cash in the summer for Eriksen as they believe Modric's position is well covered.
