Solskjaer reveals what Ronaldo did to help Man United beat Arsenal in FA Cup 4th round stage

Manchester United are through to the next stage of this year's FA Cup tourney following their 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.

A goal each from Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial handed the Red Devils the win while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's equaliser ended up a consolation.

The victory however stretches Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's winning streak to nine matches after replacing Jose Mourinho last month.

Solskjaer, according to the Mirror reveals that he took a cue from Cristiano Ronaldo's goal against the Gunners in 2009 while preparing his players for the match.

Both Lingard and Martial's goals were from counter-attacking moves and the manager admitted that it was part of his plans for the match.

One of the goals shown to United players was Cristiano Ronaldo's fine goal in United's victory over Arsenal in the Champions League in 2009.

"It's fantastic to go through in the cup. It's one of the hardest games you can get," Solskjaer said.

"We'd worked hard at defending and counter-attacking.

Counter-attacking is classic Manchester United - Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo , Ji Sung-park. "We've scored so many at Arsenal over the years. "

The former striker during his playing days reveals the performance was one of the best since he replaced Jose Mourinho, despite United winning all eight of their matches under the Norwegian.

"Today we looked more like a proper team. We looked more structured. It was a massive improvement from the Tottenham game .

"It's easy to get excited and talk about the future but we need to just keep working and think about the next game."
