Pulisic reportedly signed to replace Real Madrid-bound Hazard

Chelsea have completed the first major signing of the January transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund confirmed the FA Cup holders have agreed a £57.5million deal for USA international winger, Christian Pulisic, who will be immediately loaned back to the current Bundesliga leaders until the end of the season.

However, the UK Metro reports that the club's fans are convinced it will come at a significant cost.

Rather than hail the imminent arrival of one of the most talented youngsters in European football, many Chelsea fans fear Pulisic has merely been signed to soften the blow of Eden Hazard's potential departure.

Hazard has rediscovered his best form under the management of Maurizio Sarri, but is yet to commit his future to the club, with his current contract set to expire in 2020.

The Belgian says he will make a final decision on his future at the end of the current campaign, but many Chelsea fans believe it is almost inevitable he will call time on his seven-year spell in West London, with Real Madrid his likely destination.
