All four Premier League sides participating in this season's competition have qualified and other top sides Europe have also booked their place into the next round.
But the race for who takes home the last slot in the round of 16 of the elite competition hots up between Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donestk and Olympique Lyonnais of France.
Shakhtar have everything to play for in the crunch fixture against the Ligue 1 side on Matchday 6.
Here we take a look at the three reasons Lyon will progress to the Champions League last 16
1. They need just a draw
With two points ahead of their opponents in Group F a draw for the French side will guarantee their place in the knockout phase .
Shakhtar need an outright win to go through and will need to come all out to get three points while Lyon just need to share the spoils.
2. Play counter-attacking style
Lyon do not need to play with urgency to get maximum points like Shakhtar, they just need to sit back and capitalize on fast breaks.
With the quality of World Cup winner Nabil Fekir and Memphis Depay in the midfield and attack, Lyon can force the win and at most settle for a draw.
3. The quality of the squad
The Ligue 1 side have been outstanding in Group F and are yet to lose a game despite coming second behind leaders Manchester City.
The French side defeated Pep Guardiola's side at the Emirates and forced the favourites to a draw in the corresponding fixture in France.
Fekir, Depay, Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar have been exceptional going forward and can do the damage in Donestk.
