Ian Wright blames one Chelsea player, slams Sarri over 3-1 loss to Tottenham

Former Arsenal ace, Ian Wright has blamed Jorginho for Chelsea's 3-1 loss to Tottenham on Saturday.

He also said he can't understand what Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri is doing by replacing Kante with Jorginho in the defensive midfield position.

Kante played further forward in the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham which was Chelsea's first loss of the season.

Wright said the Frenchman was just far less effective, adding that Kante wouldn't have allowed Spurs to score those goals that Jorginho couldn't stop.

Wright told Match of the Day, "You see Jorginho for the second goal go to the ball where Kante would pick up someone like Harry Kane and clear up that mess.

"For the third goal, Kante is upfield and there's no way he'd allow them through to score that goal.

"It's baffling to have a player like Kante playing in offensive areas where you've got other players who can do that."

Sarri signed Jorginho from Napoli in the summer and he is an ever-present in a midfield anchor role.

That has left Kante playing further forward.

"It's been quite confusing to me," Wright added.

"The best defensive midfielder in the world - I'm sure he's got his new contract from what he's done previously - and listening to his manager say he could score more goals. Well, he's got midfielders who can score more goals.

"It's baffling to me."
