Man City star set for crucial talk with manager Guardiola after dropping to the bench this season

Manchester City centre-back Nicolas Otamendi is keen on holding discussions with Pep Guardiola about his future at Etihad.

According to a UK Sun report, the 30-year-old Otamendi is at home at City, but needs re-assurances from the Spaniard boss that he is still in his plans in the new campaign.

The Argentine centre-back sealed an extension in the summer and was also named in the PFA Team of the year last term.

However, since the commencement of the new campaign, Otamendi has been struggling for form as the pair of John Stones and Aymeric Laporte took charge of City's defence line in both in the Premier League and Europe.

The Argentine did not play any role in for the La Albiceleste this week after pulling out of the Mexican game with Achilles issues.

The hard tackling defence, who currently earns about £90,000 a week, is set to be considering a summer switch to Real Madrid and Barcelona if situations don't improve next summer.

Otamendi has taken part in seven matches in all competitions this term after playing in Man City's 2-0 win over Brighton in the EPL.

The Argentina international moved to the English topflight for £28.5m from Valencia in 2015 and so far has featured in 144 games for the Citizens.
