Premier League clubs spent a total of £1.26 billion on transfers in the summer.
The record fee for a goalkeeper was broken twice, while Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez was the most expensive outfield signing at £60 million.

10. Fred (Shakhtar Donetsk to Manchester United) - £52m
A lot was expected of the Brazilian midfielder when he joined Manchester United in June, but he has endured a difficult time in England so far. He finds himself behind Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera in the midfield pecking order following a series of average performances.
Club legend Gary Neville even questioned Fred's hefty price tag. "Does he change a game? Does it look like he's going to defend your goal? Does it look like he's going to connect back-to-front? At this moment in time, no," he said.

Manchester City were also said to be chasing his signature, so there must be something about him, it's just that United fans are still waiting to see it.
9. Yerry Mina (Barcelona to Everton) - £28.5m
He could've been public enemy number one if his late equaliser against England had gone on to knock them out of the World Cup.
The towering Colombia defender impressed in the summer's competition, which earned him a move to Everton. Injuries and a lack of fitness saw him wait almost two months to make his Toffees debut, but fans eventually saw him for the first time in the dying moments of the 3-1 win over Brighton at the start of November.

Then, with Kurt Zouma unable to play against parent club Chelsea a week later, Mina made his first start of the season and looked assured handling in-form striker Alvaro Morata. But the form of Zouma and Michael Keane means Mina might have to bide his time before becoming a regular in Everton's defence.
8. Fabinho (Monaco to Liverpool) - £43.7m
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been wary of rushing Fabinho into his starting XI. The midfield powerhouse has been left out of squads or he has been an unused substitute in most of the Reds' games this season.

He only started his first game of the season in Liverpool's convincing victory against Red Star Belgrade last month. Fabinho possesses obvious talent, which was evident in Monaco's Ligue 1-winning 2016/17 season, and that form will surely be replicated with more starts in a Liverpool shirt.
7. Naby Keita (RB Leipzig to Liverpool) - £48m
Keita has shown glimpses of brilliance since joining Liverpool. Starting their first two games of the season, his energy in midfield was invaluable.
But a culmination of back and hamstring injuries has hampered his Reds career.

He now faces a fight to regain a starting place due to the form of James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.
6. Felipe Anderson (Lazio to West Ham) - £35m
West Ham's club-record signing has started all of the Hammers' opening 12 league games, scoring four goals.
Coming from the Italian league, it took the Brazilian a few weeks to get used to the speed of the Premier League before netting and starring in a 3-1 win over Manchester United at the end of September.

Anderson was hooked off at half-time in West Ham's Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham last month, but has netted in his last two games.
He is West Ham's most creative player and looks likely to live up to his price tag.
5. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City to Manchester City) - £60m
Mahrez is showing why Manchester City chased his signature for so long. So far he has scored six goals in his last 11 games and has displaced Leroy Sane in the first-team.
A below-par display on his debut against Arsenal meant he had to wait patiently for another chance to impress and a late penalty miss to win the game against Liverpool could've affected his confidence.

But he has used that frustration as motivation having now established himself as a key member of Pep Guardiola's team. Mahrez has started in big games against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United - an indication he has the trust of his manager.
4. Kepa Arrizabalaga (Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea) - £71m
He had big boots to fill after Thibaut Courtois ended a summer of speculation by joining Real Madrid. And Kepa, who was relatively unknown in England, has looked like a more than capable replacement.

The goalkeeper has kept nine clean sheets in all competitions this season - the most of any goalkeeper in England.
He is the Premier League's most expensive signing, but at 24, he is only going to improve.
3. Alisson (Roma to Liverpool) - £66.8m
He has been placed higher than Kepa on our list because of his importance to this Liverpool team. Conceding goals has been a problem for the Reds over the last three seasons with error-prone goalkeepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius between the sticks. However, since joining for a club-record fee from Roma, Alisson has solidified what used to be a leaky backline.

Despite one blunder against Leicester, Alisson has settled superbly in the Premier League. His confidence coming for balls coupled with his distribution has made him indispensable for Liverpool.
2. Jorginho (Napoli to Chelsea) - £50 million
He was a long-term transfer target of Manchester City's, but in the end Jorginho joined Chelsea to reunite with Maurizio Sarri, his manager at Napoli for the three previous seasons.
Jorginho has been vital to Chelsea's unbeaten start to the season - he is the heartbeat of the Blues' midfield where he operates in the holding role of a midfield three. The Italy international has controlled games with his immaculate passing.

1. Richarlison (Watford to Everton) - £50m
There were questions raised when Everton splashed £50m on Richarlison. The winger had struggled for form in the second half of last season with Watford, failing to register a goal or assist since November.
But he has drastically turned that woeful form around by scoring six goals in 10 league appearances. He has become the first name on the team sheet and has even been deployed as a striker at the expense of Cenk Tosun in recent weeks.
