Ex-Aston Villa midfielder and England ace, Riccardo Calder has been shown the exit doors by Scottish Championship side, Inverness Caledonian Thistle after he was found guilty of assault at a Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
According to The Mirror report, the 22-year-old Calder was fired by the club after it emerged he assaulted a woman in a car park with his shoe.
"Following a trial at Birmingham Magistrates' Court this week and the subsequent guilty verdict, Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club can confirm that it has terminated the registration of Riccardo Calder with immediate effect," their statement read from the club read in part.
"Due to the ongoing legal process in England, the club will not be making any further comment on the matter."[/i]
Calder is expected to head back to the courtroom where he will be on December 4.
Interestingly, during the trial the Magistrates were informed that the Calder dropped the woman in the early hours of the morning at a public car park, where he proceeded to throw several blows on the woman through her vehicle's open window.
In addition, the football player Calder, who also doubles as a part-time rapper, also assaulted the woman by kicking and throwing his shoe at her.
Recalling the incident, an official the Crown Prosecution Service, Samantha Morgan said: "The assault has left the victim with significant injuries and as the defendant was known to the victim, identification was not an issue.
"The court did not accept that the defendant acted in self-defence due to the sustained attack evidenced by the CCTV.
"The clarity of the CCTV supported the CPS case which has resulted in a guilty verdict," he submitted.
