A bizarre statue of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been unveiled in Egypt.

According to a UK Sun report citing Egyptian newspaper al-Masry al-Youm, the bust, which shows the striker in celebration mood is currently on display at the World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh.

The piece of artwork by Mai Abdel Allah was intended to showcase the Egyptian star as a true example of dedication and determination.

However, since the statue went on display, it has not enjoyed positive ratings with plenty of people comparing it with Ronaldo's infamous sculpture.

The Portuguese star had a statue of his face that generated a lot of negative headlines but was later destroyed and replaced.

Reacting on her motive behind the statue, Egyptian sculptor Abdel Allah, stressed that the artwork shows Salah in celebration after a goal.

"Opening his arms to the fans after scoring goals.

"So, I found it is distinguished and executable," she was quoted as saying by Egypt's newspaper al-Masry al-Youm.

To say the least, Abdel Allah, who was positive in putting together the art piece has only succeed in generating negative reactions.

At the last count, the Mo Salah statue is being compared with Home Alone character, while other social media users compare the forward look like Beavis and Butthead.

A Twitter user noted: "It looks nothing like him".

Another could not say much: "Speechless."

While the third summed up: "That Salah statue is 10 times worse than the Ronaldo one."
