Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends class message to Mesut Ozil after masterclass vs Leicester

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thanked Mesut Ozil after the midfielder's sensational performance in Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Leicester.

Unai Emery entrusted Ozil with the captain's armband at the Emirates on Monday night and the German repaid his manager's faith with one of his most breathtaking displays in an Arsenal shirt.

The Gunners went behind in the 31st minute after Ben Chilwell's cross deflected in off Hector Bellerin but Emery's side equalised with a stunning first-time strike from Ozil just before the break.

Ozil also had a part in Aubameyang's 63rd-minute effort to give Arsenal the lead before providing the assist for the Gabonese striker to put the north London club out of sight.

'Transform your sadness to a strong positive energy and share it to your team-mate that was my feeling today!!!' Aubameyang told his followers on Twitter after the win.

'Thanks captain y mi hermanito Hector Bellerin for the assists.'

'Mesut is a player that has been through a lot in his career through loads of ups and downs,' the Spaniard said.

'But most of all he's a born champion and he's a player who has so many records in the world of football, so he's a player that is an example for everyone.

'Everyone wants to have the success that he's had on and off the pitch, so for us to have someone like him as a captain is really important.

'Mesut is a player that always keeps giving his best and is always surprising everyone and he's a player that we're very grateful and very lucky to have.

'When the team play well with good football and he can find space he's always a killer with his passes and finishes, so for us to have a player like him in the team is very important.'
