Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric has won the FIFA 2018 Best player of the year award in a ceremony held in London on Monday night, September 24.
The Croatia international defeated Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award in London on Monday night.
Luka Modric's performance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup helped him win the award as he captained his national team to the final of the championship where they lost to France.
He was also superb for his club Real Madrid last season in the Champions League beating Premier League giants Liverpool in the final in Kiev.
Meanwhile, Brazil international Marta was named as the best Female player of the year after winning the 2018 women's Copa America with her country.
She defeated Ada Hegerberg of Lyon and Dzsenifer Marozsan of Germany to win the award in London.
