Can players still be sold?

This deadline exists just for clubs in the English pyramid.

As a result, those all over Europe can still buy players all the way up to to the end of August - so players can still be sold by English clubs, just not bought.

The move is designed to provide some stability in the early season, taking away the fear of losing star players after they hit the ground running after the summer break.

The FA state that sides can:

  • Sign players on a standard loan up to the August 31, 2018.

  • Sign players on a standard loan up to August 31, 2018 with an option to agree a permanent transfer when the next window opens.

  • Register players who ceased to be registered with a club during the period up until August 31, 2018.

  • Transfer players OUT to a club in any league whose window is still open.

French, Italian, Spanish and German leagues are among those able to do business until midnight on August 31.
