Bayern Munich rule out transfer move for Manchester United misfit Anthony Martial

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has poured cold water on speculation linking Anthony Martial with a move to the Allianz Arena.

Martial's agent confirmed that the forward wanted to leave Manchester United earlier this summer and Jose Mourinho has been publicly critical of the Frenchman in recent months.

The 22-year-old left United's pre-season tour of the Unites States to be with his partner for the birth of their son and Mourinho slammed him for failing to return and help his team-mates.

Several clubs, including Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern, are understood to have been eyeing Martial's situation, with attacker desperate to leave ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Some reports even suggest that a swap deal involving Martial and Jerome Boateng could be on the cards, but Bayern appear to have ruled this out.

Asked about Bayern's rumoured interest in Martial, Rummenigge told Bild: 'We have four wingers: [Franck] Ribery, [Arjen] Robben, [Kingsley] Coman and [Serge] Gnabry. And [Alphonso] Davies will join in January.

'You should not overdo it. That's what some clubs do, but then it's a problem for the coach.'

Martial insisted that 'family will always come first' after Mourinho criticised him for not returning to the Unites States.

'Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she's better now,' the France international tweeted earlier this month.

'Sorry but my family will always come first... Back tomorrow in Manchester.'

United confirmed that Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof would join Martial in training ahead of their match with Bayern on Sunday.
