Manchester United are plotting a £92million double deal for Croatian duo Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic, according to reports.

The attacking pair starred for Croatia in their historic World Cup run that saw their country finish as runners-up to France on Sunday.

Perisic was particularly impressive during the tournament, and rejected the chance last summer to join United.

Jose Mourinho admitted he was baffled as to why Perisic turned down the switch, but the Sun claim the United boss now wants to return for the winger.

Perisic would cost £48m and United would be in with a fight to lure the 29-year-old away from Inter.

The Italians would surely demand big money for the World Cup star, as would Rebic's current club, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Rebic has caught Mourinho's eye playing on the opposite side to Perisic and is thought to be valued at around £44m.

If United were to complete the £92m deal, it would more than double their spending this transfer window.

The additions of Brazilian midfielder Fred, young full-back Diogo Dalot and back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant has cost United a combined £75m this summer.

United and Mourinho flew out to the US this week as they prepare to kick off their pre-season tour.

Alexis Sanchez did not travel with the squad to America due to issues with his visa.

The Chilean was found guilty of tax fraud and was denied a visa and access to the United States as a result.
