Harry Kane wins 2018 World Cup Golden Boot

Harry Kane has won the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot with his six goals for England during the tournament.

The Tottenham striker was virtually guaranteed the prize ahead of Sunday's final between France and Croatia as his nearest challengers who were playing in the match were Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, who had scored three goals each.

Although both Griezmann and Mbappe scored in France's 4-2 victory over Croatia, it wasn't enough to overhaul Kane.

And it now means that Kane has become the second English player after Gary Lineker to win the Golden Boot.

Lineker won the award at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico with his six goals in the tournament.

All of Kane's goals for England came in their first four games of the tournament, with three from the penalty spot.

The Spurs striker also failed to score in England's last three games as Gareth Southgate's side crashed out at the semi-final stage to Croatia.

'Obviously I'm disappointed I couldn't get a goal in the last few games,' said Kane.

'Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't. But if I win it, it'll be something I'll be very proud of.'
