Manchester United ready to pursue Harry Maguire for £50 million

Manchester United are ready to pay £50 million for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, according to The Daily Mail.

Maguire has been on international duty for England this summer, playing an integral part of Gareth Southgate's side that reached the semi-final stage of the competition.

Along with making a name for himself with some solid defensive displays, his headed goal against Sweden proved that he's also a useful offensive weapon in the opposition's box as well.

With his impressive performances for the national side has come a lot of credit - and the interest of Manchester United.

The Red Devils are willing to pay £50 million for the 25-year-old, despite Leicester only signing him a year previously for a much lower fee of £17 million.

However, the Foxes want to keep Maguire, especially after proving how good he can be on the highest stage of all at a World Cup.

The 29-year-old could replace other England internationals Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in the Manchester United defence if he was to sign there.

Jose Mourinho has until August 9 to make his decision as to whether fully pursue Maguire as that is when the transfer window is set to slam shut.
