Chelsea players are reportedly in the dark about whether it will Antonio Conte or Maurizio Sarri in charge when they undergo their first proper pre-season session on Monday.

Conte was present at Cobham on Saturday when Chelsea's squad returned to begin their preparations for the new season.

Chelsea first-team stars such as Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso and Alvaro Morata were at Cobham, but were not coached by Conte as the Italian attended meetings instead of overseeing the medical checks.

Pre-season's sessions will begin on Monday, but Goal claim Chelsea players are still unsure if Conte will be the one in charge.

Conte is ready and prepared to begin pre-season, and it is now crystal clear the head coach will not quit.

Resigning would forfeit's Conte's £9million fee, which Chelsea seem reluctant to pay.

Napoli will get a compensation fee when Sarri joins Chelsea, meaning the Blues could pay upwards of £15m to axe Conte and bring in his replacement.

First-team players will be joined by a select group of Chelsea's loan stars, and as it stands Conte is the most likely man to be waiting for them on the training pitch on Monday.

However, it seems the players have yet to be told for definite if Conte will be in charge by the time the first ball is kicked.
