Maurizio Sarri set to be announced as new Chelsea manager early next week

Maurizio Sarri will be announced as Chelsea's new manager at the start of next week, reports say.

Antonio Conte, who won the Premier League and FA Cup at Chelsea, has been preparing for pre-season but will finally be put out of his misery.

The Italian manager was widely expected to be sacked following Chelsea's FA Cup final victory over Manchester United last month.

But he is unwilling to leave on his own accord, knowing he will be in line for a significant pay-off should the Premier League club appoint a new manager.

Chelsea risk being left behind in the transfer window unless they resolve the situation quickly and club chiefs now accept they must replace Conte with Sarri as quickly as possible.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea's non-World Cup players have been told to report back to training on 9 July, by which time they hope Sarri will be in charge.

Chelsea targeting moves for Aleksandr Golovin, Russia's World Cup star, and Daniele Rugani, the Juventus defender, gave a clear indication that Sarri would take over.

Both are players that the former Napoli boss has shown serious interest in before and he will hope Chelsea can secure their signatures in the coming weeks.

Sarri, 59, has been replaced at Napoli by the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti.
