Gareth Bale tells Bayern Munich he'll only leave Real Madrid for a Premier League club

Manchester United's hopes of signing Gareth Bale have been handed a significant boost after the Welshman told Bayern Munich he would only leave Real Madrid for the Premier League.

The 28-year-old confirmed following his two-goal display in Real Madrid's Champions League final win against Liverpool in May that he would 'seriously consider' his future at the Bernabeu.

Bale started the game on the bench in Kiev and was unhappy with a lack of playing time under Zinedine Zidane.

The Frenchman has since resigned but Bale's future in Madrid is far from certain and Bayern Munich have earmarked him as a replacement for Arjen Robben.

However, Bale has told the Bundesliga giants that he's not willing to move to Germany and favours a transfer to the Premier League, according to the Mirror.

That is a significant boost for United, who head the queue of suitors for Bale.

Jose Mourinho's men are one of the few sides in world football that could afford both Real Madrid's valuation of Bale and the Welshman's wages.

United have already signed Porto star Diogo Dalot and have agreed a deal with Shakhtar Donestk for Brazilian ace Fred.

However, United finished 19 points behind Manchester City and need to strengthen significantly if they're to wrestle the title away from the Etihad.

Mourinho is interested in Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld but the club fear Spurs' £75m valuation of the Belgian could prove too costly.
