BREAKING! Morocco To Host 2018 CHAN (Full Story)

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as the hosts of 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Emergency Committee of CAF chaired by its President, Ahmad Ahmad, met in Lagos during the weekend and unanimously decided to grant the Royal Moroccan Football Federation the fifth edition of Africa second tier's football competition.

The decision was disclosed Sunday morning via CAF's Twitter handle @CAF_online.

"Breaking News: Morocco will host will host the 2018 #totalCHAN," the African football body tweeted.

Morocco had been a candidate following CAF's decision to strip Kenya of the hosting rights on September 23 after a meeting of its Emergency Committtee in Accra, Ghana.

The candidacy of Morocco was preferred to that of Equatorial Guinea, another country that submitted a valid application.

Next year's competition is set for January 12 to 4 February and will bring together 16 national teams composed exclusively of players playing in the national leagues of their respective countries.
