Cristiano Ronaldo Closes In On Puskas' Record

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, scored his 75th goal for his country in their 4-0 win over New Zealand at the ongoing Confederations Cup, to move to within nine of Ferenc Puskas, the top of the European international goalscoring chart.

Ronaldo opened scoring from the spot in the
33rd minute, as the European champions
qualified for the last four.

Puskas, who also played for Real Madrid like the 32-year-old, netted 84 times for his country between 1945 and 1956.

It remains a record across the continent to this day.

Ronaldo has netted four times in as many
appearances for Portugal over recent weeks.

He bagged a brace against Latvia on the road
to Russia 2018, before finding the target
against Russia and New Zealand at the
Confederations Cup.
